I will CLOBBER every single sport.
July 9, 2009
While lying in the sand at Myrtle Beach, I declared a splendid new challenge for myself. I will learn and conquer every single sport. I’m playing off of the Wikipedia List which contains roughly 900 sports! Tic-Tac-Toe included.
I am a curious person. I’m active, and I am attracted to games, challenges, and adventure. Recently, I have attended a juggling class, fished for Sea bass, and started training for the upcoming Chicago Marathon. I like a little fear in my life. This new ambition seems fitting.
I’m in shape. But I’m no more athletic than the average person. I am clumsy. I’m afraid of balls flying at my head. I got cut from volleyball, cheerleading, and basketball in junior high. But I did go on to make the basketball team, track team, and swim team in high school. I’m persistent, and I try for most everything. Why not? I relish rejection. Except in dating (another story).
Here’s how the game goes … I will study every sport and know the rules in-and-out. Research will be a necessity. Interviews and expertise will be required. Photos, doodles, diagrams, all of it. The final test: I will be able to teach a uninformed stranger about every single sport. Yes, that includes knife throwing, Hide-and-Seek, and the Salsa. I’ve already nailed Beer Pong.
It will be a dangerous year, and some activities may require simulations. I mean, I’ll get as close to BASE jumping as possible, but let’s be slightly realistic here.
Toe wresting may change my life.
Help is needed. Check out the list of Wikipedia Sports. If you have an opinion or you are an expert, please contact me. If you have an interest in a particular sport or activity, let me know. I request assistance and camaraderie from all of you. I don’t care where you are located, let’s make a little Rock-Paper-Scissors action together.

KIRA!!!
I am back-tracking through your blog.
This is an absurdly ambitious undertaking. I want an update! How’s it coming along?

Dear Kelly,
Every time I flip on New York One, I think of you.
I agree, clobbering every single sport is slightly overwhelming, but I am working my way through the list. I only have 758 sports to go. Current focus: roller derby and ballet.
Sincerely,
Kira
