I’m easily amused

My stallion at Kennywood Amusement Park
The best gift I’ve received recently is a plastic toy.* I lit up as soon as I saw the striped animal waiting for me in my old bedroom.
I don’t need much. My parents have given me a lot already. During the holidays, my family bypasses extravagant gift exchanges.
We’ve simplified with no regrets.
Surprises are still in the game plan. Unbeknownst to me, my mom recognized my odd obsession with zebras. Giving me a zebra was her way of showing me maternal love. The toy cost less than five bucks, but it has already entertained me for endless hours.
I’m easily amused.
While we’re in the mood to give, I do need a name for this stallion. I feel like he will appear in a lot of photos as I venture out.
*The Barbie Dream House may top the list.

I wish my Mom would learn that simple, meaningful gifts mean a hell of a lot more than spending too much on gifts I give away to charity within six months because I don’t like them and she has, once again, not thought of me in the purchase of gifts.
I’m dreading the receiving of an ugly Louis Vuitton this year. I’ve already seen it. It’s ugly and garish and completely something I would never carry, but she got a good deal on it, and therefore, I should LOVE it and appreciate it.
Christmas has lost a lot of joy because it ties me in knots.

That’s a tough one. Are you going to say something to your mom about it? I’m not a fan of LV myself. It’s great that you’re supplying local charities with some designer bags though!
I think my mom was surprised that the zebra really was the perfect gift.
What’s your favorite animal? I’ll get you a plastic one!

It’s, sadly, been years of trying to get my Mom to understand that the gift should be about the person…
The happiest Christmas I had since I was like 10 was a few years ago. My Dad imposed a – one REALLY big gift rule. We were only supposed to get one really big gift. I’d been wanting my own brand, new laptop for years. For MONTHS my Mom kept saying, “you’re only going to have one present under the tree.. are you really going to be happy?” Every time I said, “YES!” She just shook her head and said, “Well, we’ll see..” When I finally got the box the laptop came in, took me forever on Christmas morning to open the box (the wrapping paper flew off. It then took another two hours for me to want to take the laptop out of the pink plastic. I wanted the present to last forever, because it was what I truly wanted. ;o)
You’re sweet – but I love LOTS of animals… I’m just glad that something so simple made you happy…
Did you think of a name, yet?

It was a Mac wasn’t it? I apologize if you’re a PC gal.
I think the name will be Subscribe. It’s one of the most popular words on the internet. After all, I want my little guy to be well-liked.

That was the one compromise I made w/ my Dad – I wanted a Mac, he didn’t want to pay THAT much. I understood. Got a Toshiba. Don’t ever do that. Toshiba’s have a bad reputation with overheating.
I did get, the next summer, my own MacBook Pro. His name is Keoki. ;o)
